Fried cabbage
It is fried, not stewed cabbage. However, while cooking, we’ll stew it a little bit to make it soft. It is very good as a side dish or as a hot dish during the Lent.
4
portions Ingredients
- Cabbage - 500 g;
- Onion - 1 pc;
- Carrot - 1 pc;
- Tomatoes - 2 pc;
- Garlic - 1 clove;
- Oil - 4 tbsp;
- Salt, fresh black pepper -
Step 1
Cut the cabbage – neither into small nor into big pieces to make it get softer fast.
Step 2
Cut the onion into thin quarter-rings.
Step 3
Grate carrot on a small grater.
Step 4
Parboil onion for 2 minutes until it gets transparent on a pre-heated frying pan with oil.
Step 5
Then add carrot and parboil for two minutes more.
Step 6
Then add cabbage. Fry on a medium heat mixing up every two minutes until the cabbage gets caramel-golden colour. Then add half of the glass of hot water and cover the cabbage. Stew for 10 minutes until the water gets soaked.
Step 7
Meanwhile, cut tomatoes into cubes.
Step 8
When the water evaporates, take out the cover and add tomatoes into the cabbage. Fry for more three minutes mixing up.
Step 9
Then sprinkle with salt and pepper, mix up and wait for 2 minutes more.
Step 10
Press out garlic, mix up and switch off.
Step 11
Aromatic cabbage is ready.
Bon appetite!
