From the most ancient times, people in Russia cultivated not only grain, but also truck crops – it can be proved by the abundance of vegetable starters, soups and main dishes in Russian cuisine. Cabbage was one of the most important crops. Turnip, swede, and radish were widespread, too. Dishes based on them are still very popular. Turnip was part of many culinary products, especial shchi; it was also used as a filling for pies. Radish was used to prepare not only simple starters (radish grated with butter, with kvass), but also more complicated dishes (dumplings with radish, radish with honey). Today we are presenting a new selection of recipes for tasty vegetable dishes.
