Restaurant Budvar

Slight aroma of dry sage, a smoky cat, sleeping on a calico cushion, a pink-sided apple and nuts scattered on the table. Warm homely atmosphere is in the air – everything resembles old good Prague. The light of the shaded lamp is on in a small room. It feels good in the fireplace hall among ceramic tiles, calico cushions and straw dolls, hanging on the walls. Non-smoking area is divided by screens into many cosy corners, decorated with flower bouquets, canvas lamp-shades and various cushions. A cheerful country style verandah deserves special attention. It’s cool here during summer heat and it’s comfortable when it rains, on quiet evenings the verandah is plunged into romantic mood.

The restaurant combines typical features of a beer restaurant with its homely atmosphere. Guests bring children or friends, date or arrange wedding parties, hold business meetings in the Budvar in Kotelnicheskaya embankment.

The cuisine consists of best European delicious substantial dishes that goes well with selected beer. Description of the dishes sounds like a poem. For example, delicious assorted pork shank, lamb loin, veal on bone, baked porkling legs, veal sausages, potato mash and chive, sauerkraut and tomato and garlic sauce, or light veal marrowbones, pickled milk mushrooms served in a potato basked with sour and sweet sauce. In the fish section hot puff pie stuffed with Norwegian salmon and halibut served on bed of asparagus, crawfish and dressed with cheese sauce should be mentioned.

You will be served with Budweiser – larger beer with sweet and silky flavor and intoxicating hop scent; Paulaner, the wheat non-filtered beer with new wheat aroma (Bavarian kings’ favourite beer) or Spaten, the draught amber beer with soft pleasant flavor and light hop bitterness. Cocktails are also popular among beer fans: Nut beer, the dark beer and nut syrup, Prazhechka, the larger beer and raspberry syrup. Various original liqueurs made out of walnuts, ginger, cranberry and redberry, pepperidge and orange complete the wine list.
